Wednesday 15th of February 2023

On Friday, CROSSROADS Maldives – The Indian Ocean’s one and only multi-island integrated destination acquired the internationally acclaimed Green Globe™ Certification (GGC) after a thorough sustainability audit on the island. The achievement comes in line with the sustainability and environmental commitments of CROSSROADS Maldives and its constituent resorts.

Three esteemed resorts are featured on the ingenious island playground including Hard Rock Hotel Maldives and SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton and soon-to-be-opened SO/Maldives. Adding to these iconic properties is The Marina @CROSSROADS, a luxury yacht marina hosting a hub of lifestyle areas and various culinary experiences.

In order to achieve this global recognition, CROSSROADS Maldives has adopted industry-leading best practices at the destination, meeting the standards set by Green Globe™. The GGC is well renowned for setting the benchmark for environmental sustainability in the tourism & hospitality industry, therefore the certification goes to show that CROSSROADS Maldives opts for socially responsible and eco-friendly processes throughout its day-to-day operations.

Focusing on four key pillars, CROSSROADS Maldives’ comprehensive Environment Policy covers Sustainable Management, Social & Economic Development, Environmental Practices and Cultural Heritage. Each pillar is implemented to conserve the natural resources of the Maldives and preserve the local lifestyle of the island nation. Two main facilities onsite help to drive these efforts: namely the expert-led Maldives Discovery Centre and Marine Discovery Centre.

Marine Discovery Centre: is a pioneering conservation concept which outlines the major environmental issues in the Maldives and exhibits the country’s phenomenal natural beauty. The facility houses a marine biology laboratory and coral nursery and conducts regular activities such as fish identification, coral propagation and etc.

Maldives Discovery Centre: designed to provide in-depth knowledge about the Maldivian culture, heritage, history and people, the Centre also highlights unique environmental and climate aspects. The entire place is fully equipped with interactive displays and hands-on experienced guides.
