The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) promoted and exhibited destination Maldives and its offerings at the United Kingdom’s Travel Bulletin Indian Ocean Showcase 2023. The event was held at Chelmsford, Essex on the 31st of January 2023.
As a leading figure in the UK travel trade, Travel Bulletin has over a decade of experience in providing news, training and networking events for travel agents to connect with international sellers of tourism products, services and experiences including destinations. Hence, it offers a vital platform for sellers and buyers to meet, network, and exchange business contacts and deals.
Before the event kicked off, a 30-minute B2B networking session was held for the attendees where MMPRC hosted a table. The corporation provided 10-minute speed networking sessions complete with presentations to groups of 8-10 travel agents in a round-table setting. Apart from this, a networking dinner, special gift hampers & vouchers, and free holiday raffles were given away during the event to the participants.
The main objective of participating in the event was to meet and network with top travel trade partners from the region, and maintain and increase the presence of the Maldives brand in the market. Moreover, it helped in providing the most recent information about the destination and the tourism products offered including any unique experiences.
The UK market was among the top source markets to the Maldives in 2022, recording 179,312 arrivals by 31st December 2022 and dominating a market share of 10.7%. MMPRC conducted several marketing activities for the market to maintain destination momentum last year. This included participation in major fairs like WTM London 2022, destination roadshows in London, Manchester & Newcastle, joint marketing campaigns with British Airways and much more. Likewise, many activities are also in the pipeline for this year as well.
