Direct Route to the Maldives: Air Arabia's Inaugural Flight Takes Off

Air Arabia, the leading low-cost airline in the Middle East and North Africa, has officially inaugurated its first non-stop flight between Sharjah International Airport and Velana International Airport in Malé, Maldives. This milestone was celebrated simultaneously at both airports, with key representatives from Air Arabia and airport authorities in attendance.

Upon arrival at Velana International Airport, the inaugural flight was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute, marking the beginning of this exciting new route. A warm reception followed, highlighting the significance of this new connection.

Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, expressed enthusiasm for the new route, stating that it represents a significant step in expanding their network. He emphasized that the direct flights to the Maldives will provide customers with easy access to this beautiful tropical destination while reaffirming Air Arabia's commitment to affordable travel options.

Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, CEO and Managing Director of MACL, shared his excitement about the partnership with Air Arabia. He noted that the new flight will enhance arrivals from the Middle East, offering broader connections to various global destinations. This move is expected to strengthen Velana International Airport's position in the aviation sector and enhance the tourism industry in the Maldives.

Air Arabia operates a modern fleet of 77 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, known for their efficiency and comfort. The airline offers passengers a value-added experience with features like ‘SkyTime’ for free in-flight streaming and ‘SkyCafe’ for affordable onboard catering. Additionally, Air Arabia's loyalty program, ‘Air Rewards’, allows passengers to earn and spend points conveniently.

Travelers can now book their flights to the Maldives through Air Arabia’s website, via the call center, or through travel agencies, opening the door to explore the beauty of the islands.
