The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort is thrilled to offer Marriott Bonvoy members an extraordinary opportunity to bid on a unique freediving experience with Christian Redl, the legendary twelve-time world record holder. This exclusive adventure, crafted through Marriott Bonvoy Moments, promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of Baa Atoll, the Maldives' first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. More than just an exploration of the vibrant underwater world, this collaboration aims to support ocean conservation efforts by engaging with the local community on Maalhos Island and deepening the connection between guests and the marine environment.

Christian Redl, renowned for his exceptional freediving achievements, has spent over 30 years pushing the boundaries of human endurance in some of the world’s most extreme conditions, including under ice and in caves. His impressive list of accomplishments includes twelve world records, with his most recent being the longest 24-hour underwater cycling, recognized by the German Record Institute (RID).

From October 25 to 28, 2024, the successful bidder will enjoy a personalized three-night stay for two in the resort’s luxurious Overwater Villa with Pool, offering breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. A highlight of this experience is a private freediving session with Christian Redl himself, providing a rare chance to learn from one of the most celebrated freedivers in the world. The experience is further enhanced with an exquisite dinner at The Pearl, the resort’s distinguished Japanese restaurant, where guests will dine exclusively with Redl.

The Westin Maldives has designed this package to focus on overall well-being, incorporating their signature wellness programs. Guests will have the chance to relax with a 60-minute spa treatment for two at Heavenly Spa by Westin, as well as participate in sunrise or sunset yoga sessions in tranquil surroundings. The experience also includes access to the resort’s runWESTIN program and the 24/7 WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio. Guests can take advantage of Hyperice, a Recharge and Recovery wellness gear, to relieve muscle tension after their activities. The resort’s ‘Gear Lending’ program allows guests to pack light while enjoying their wellness journey. The experience is rounded off with restorative sleep in the award-winning Heavenly Bed and the soothing Sleep Well Lavender Balm.

Christian Redl, as the founder of the non-profit organization 7Oceans, is a dedicated advocate for ocean conservation, addressing issues such as coral bleaching, overfishing, ghost nets, deep sea exploration, and plastic pollution. In line with Redl’s commitment, this collaboration extends beyond the resort to Maalhos Island, a neighboring community known for its rich underwater biodiversity. Redl will lead a plastic pollution awareness session for residents and students, and provide psychological dive training in partnership with the Maldives Freediving Association, offering the bid winner an opportunity to participate in these impactful activities. This initiative seeks to strengthen local ocean conservation efforts and enable Maldivian freedivers to explore the captivating underwater beauty of Baa Atoll.

“We are immensely proud to partner with Christian Redl for this inspiring Marriott Bonvoy Moments,” said Vijay Kumar, General Manager of The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing our guests with unique, meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impression. We are honored to contribute to ocean conservation and offer our guests the opportunity to learn from one of the most inspiring freedivers in the world.”

Christian Redl added, “Freediving is more than just a sport; it’s about forging a deep connection with the ocean and sharing that bond with others. I’m excited to partner with The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort and look forward to raising awareness about ocean conservation in the beautiful Baa Atoll.”
