Last night, the picturesque island of Vabou Huraa hosted the grand introduction of the world-class surfers competing in this year's Surfing Champions Trophy at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa.
Didier Jardin, General Manager of the resort, warmly welcomed a distinguished group of dignitaries, competitors' families, event staff, and VIP guests to the beautiful setting, located just a short walk from Kuda Huraa. Among the esteemed guests were representatives from the Maldives Ministry of Tourism, including State Minister Honourable Dr. Abdulla Niyaz, Deputy Minister Honourable Yamin Ahmed, and Director General Aishath Ali. They were joined by officials from the Maldives Surfing Association and the Maldives Bodyboarding Association.
After the welcome, Didier invited Ross Phillips from Tropicsurf to introduce the star-studded lineup of competitors, featuring five-time world champion and Olympic gold medallist Carissa Moore, two-time event winner Taj Burrow, and the top-ranked Maldivian surfer, Ahmed 'Ammaday' Agil. Ross's heartfelt words left everyone smiling.
Ross also announced the arrival of a promising swell that could bring the best waves of the event. The evening continued with a sumptuous banquet and live music, setting the stage for an exhilarating week ahead.
The Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy runs from August 29 to September 5.
