An exquisite pop-up heads to the heart-shaped island of W Maldives this February, bringing with it the flavours of Bangkok’s Haoma. Haoma is a sustainable neo-Indian fine dining restaurant in the Thai capital and was recently awarded a Michelin Star and a Green Michelin Star in the 2023 Michelin Star Revelation, Thailand. Under this unique collaboration with Haoma, Chef Deepanker (DK) Khosla together with the chefs at W Maldives will join hands to orchestrate two culinary events for the guests at the Maldivian property.
The first event will take place on February 20th, at W Maldives’ signature dining venue, FISH. The exclusive showcase dinner hosted at FISH will feature a seven-course tasting menu, offering guests the opportunity to sample and savour the best of Haoma’s sumptuous dishes. The dinner experience is priced at USD 185++ per person for food with an add-on of USD 155++ for pairings of liquid.
The second event will be a Beach BBQ curated to resemble a beachside grill-themed lunch. The luncheon will be held on February 22nd and will not disappoint the palates of the most discerning gourmands. The gastronomical affair will proceed in an interactive manner with food being served till late afternoon and several liquid stations set up on the oceanfront. Moreover, beats and grooves from the DJ will add lightness to the whole event, as guests ease into the comfort of a lazy lunch.
At the event, they can choose their favourite proteins to grill and chat with the exceptional culinary team chefs while sipping on invigorating cocktails in the warm embrace of the Maldivian sun. The Beach BBQ experience is priced at USD 55++ per person for food with USD 88++ per person for bottomless liquids.
Given Chef DK’s and W Maldives’ core commitment to sustainability and vegan-friendly cuisines, the menus at both events will be prepared using local produce and fresh ingredients, offsetting the carbon footprint. Moreover, the plates themselves will constitute vegan-friendly options along with Haoma’s delicious signature desserts.
Chef DK Khosla strives to reimagine contemporary Indo-European cuisines while maintaining food sustainability. Posted in Thailand with roots in Northern India, Chef DK has a knack for linking flavours and communities together and this is represented in his creations at Haoma. The restaurant pays homage to traditional Indian culinary styles, where ingredients are generated from Haoma’s fertile farm in the heart of Bangkok.
The urban farm has gone through numerous experimenting and trials to optimize the flavours of harvest and more and designed a revolutionary concept which can truly be associated with environmentalism. By the time Chef DK inaugurated his restaurant, Haoma in 2017, he has maneuvered and mastered a sustainable ecosystem of food that is flawlessly captured in every morsel served and every attention to detail of the elegant dining in Haoma.
Speaking of the collaboration, Chef DK said “We’re in the business of growing world-class, sustainable cuisine, cooking neo-Indian food. Balance with nature is just as important as pleasing our diners at Haoma and bringing this experience and adapting it to the Maldives, working in collaboration with the chefs at W Maldives, is definitely going to be an experience to remember for me and for all the guests.”
Guests looking to have this once-in-a-lifetime experience of Haoma in the middle of the Indian Ocean, can also book the “Taste of HAOMA” package at W Maldives, which includes a daily buffet breakfast at KITCHEN and return seaplane transfers, in addition to experiencing the Haoma showcase dinner on February 20 and the Haoma x W Maldives Beach BBQ on February 22 inclusive of the beverage package for up to two guests.
