The opulent property, LUX* South Ari Atoll has an exciting initiative planned for May and has onboarded globally acclaimed motivational speaker, professional athlete and well-renowned artist, Gregory Burns on the project. The celebrated sports artist has partnered up with the resort for its upcoming ‘Artist in Residence’ programme which will feature an exclusive residency of him from 10th-23rd May 2023.
During his childhood, Gregory contracted Polio, which encouraged him to express himself through sports and art. He went on to compete in three Paralympic Games where he won multiple Gold Medals and set numerous World Records before ultimately transitioning into IronMan events. His commendable discipline and perseverance inspired many to follow in his wake while his vibrant and striking artworks earned him high acclaim and accolades from international audiences.
Over three decades of expressive works, Gregory has accumulated a collection of prestigious awards including 2016 Sports Artist of the Year and a special commission from the International Olympic Committee to create paintings for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games. This May, Gregory will arrive in the Indian Ocean to personally guide guests to unleash their creativity by learning from the master himself.
During the course of his ‘Artist in Residence’ programme, Gregory will teach a diverse set of techniques to art enthusiasts ranging from painting to drawing and more, allowing guests to come up with their own unique masterpieces. Guests of all artistic backgrounds and skill levels can participate in the classes set in the lush greenery of the outdoors. Additionally, aligning with the brand’s mission to uplift the community through self-expression by art, LUX* South Ari Atoll will also be hosting a co-painting session with Gregory and a handful of renowned local artists.
“Since my childhood, the sea has been my home. Swimming, surfing, scuba diving and sketching; all these fluid activities bring us joy and make it a better day," commented Gregory Burns
