National Flag Carrier Maldivian operated by Island Aviation Services Limited has revealed a partnership with Bird Travels, the airline management service arm of Bird Group as their General Sales Agent for the newly launched direct flights between Mumbai and Maafaru. As part of their expansion into the Indian market, Maldivian aims to strengthen the airline’s sales in the market with this collaboration.
Founded in 1971, Bird Group has expanded into a workforce of over 9000 employees in more than 45 offices around the globe making it among the largest and most diversified group of various entities within the industry. “Maldives is the top destination in the South Asian region and a main leisure market for Indian travelers, and this relationship with Bird is a vital one for us and one we believe will flourish.” commented Deputy Managing Director of IASL, Aishath Jennifer.
Direct flights between Mumbai and Maafaru flying three times a week is set to commence on April 13, 2021, and IASL is in full gear for the preparation. The establishment of this route will further enhance the connectivity to the northern region of the Maldives, a destination that has topped the Indian Outbound Travel charts in the past couple of years. Even today during a world pandemic, Indians have been the largest source market to Maldives, boosted by the fact that currently, Maldives is the only country offering Indians travel with the least encumbrances.
