Starting from January 2020, landside permits to drive and licenses will be issued after completing a compulsory training. This was announced by Transport Minister Aishath Nahula.
Minister states that this will be effective for all the new licenses that will be issued to landside by the transport ministry. This is mainly to prevent dangerous accidents and to make everyone familiar with regulations and reduce accidents.
The training might be carried out by Maldives Police Services. This has caused huge controversy in the country as getting a driving license is made more complex in certain ways.
Today, Male City Council tweeted painting road lines and renewing traffic signboards.
