Germany being a key market to the Maldives, has been a significant contributor to the tourism industry of the destination, specifically the 5th largest source market in 2020. Last year alone, 36.435 arrivals were from Germany even amidst travel restrictions in the global pandemic. Following up on the first month of this year, the numbers remained steady at 3,390 arrivals from Germany.
In efforts to keep the progress on a roll, Visit Maldives is hosting German journalist, Jurgen Wenzel in the Maldives from March 7-13 as part of the first FA trip carried out for the market this year. Jurgen will be journaling his trip in the fabulous resorts of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fenfushi and Seaside Finolhu on the platforms of Berliner Zeitung and Maitre Magazine. These are among the most read newspapers in Germany and a quarterly publication that focuses on lifestyle, culinary art and wellness respectively.
Jurgen will be offered the experiences of lifestyle, culinary and wellness in the resorts with participation in specially curated programs such as yoga programmes, spa treatments, excursions, cruises and delectable dining experiences. The theme of his stay and the experiences are adhering to the destination being a safe haven, the message that Visit Maldives aims to showcase through the coverage. Highlight will be thrown on the unique geographical formation of the Maldives and the stringent safety measures in place which will help entice travelers to visit the destination.
In addition to circulating updated travel information to a wide audience, Jurgen will create a feature in the form of an extended written story and short video clip on Gourmino Express, an online blog dedicated to culinary delights. Overall, these circulations are expected to have a combined reach of 350,000.
Visit Maldives continuously participates in virtual events such as webinars, social media campaigns, advertisements on digital media and print advertisements in efforts to maintain the destination’s appeal in the significant markets.
