From the shades of orange that paint the dusk sky and all the colours of the blue that blends our oceans, Maldives is famed for its geographical beauty and magnificence. However, it is not only our landscape that brings so many guests to our shoes as our resorts are well-known for providing exclusive guest experiences to our visitors as well.
Ranging from romantic sunset dinners to extensive water sports facilities, resorts are up-to-date with the most popular recreational facilities. This is evident from the fact that many resorts are now including Padel Tennis in their sports and Vakkaru Maldives has recently joined the trend and revealed their new Padel Tennis court this Saturday.
Situated in the midst of greenery at the centre of the island, the Padel Tennis court is for those seeking an interactive game of fun with their loved ones. It is also perfect for guests who want to remain fit even during their vacation, as this sport is sure to boost your adrenaline and give you a sweaty workout.
While speaking about the opening, General Manager of Vakkaru Maldives, Iain McCormack stated that they are very glad to be one of the fewest providers of Padel in the Maldives and honored to be the first in the Baa Atoll. He also remarked that it is a valuable addition to the resort’s extensive sports facilities and will further re-instate Vakkaru Maldives as a suitable destination for families and sport-lovers.
Padel Tennis is now deemed the fastest-growing racket sport in the world and resembles a mix of regular Tennis and Squash. It is played in a semi-enclosed court that is 25% smaller than a tennis court and has walls similar to those in Squash. The rules of Padel share similarities with Tennis but there are some major differences in the games. Balls used in Padel are less pressurized and unlike Tennis have to be served underarm.
The growing popularity of Padel is heightened by celebrities who enjoy this sport including top Tennis athletes like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova. It is quite famous among football idols too with big names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar known to be enthusiasts of the sport.
Guests can enjoy Padel Tennis matches from 7:00am to 10:00pm every day at Vakkaru Maldives. It is complimentary for in-house guests who opt to make advance reservations. Rackets, balls, towels and water will be provided as amenities. Kids and teens alike can learn more about Padel Tennis at the “Introduction to Padel Tennis” session held every Wednesday by Vakkaru’s dedicated recreational staff.
Vakkaru Maldives situated in Baa Atoll in the midst of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, provides the best scenes for guests in the underwater world. A 30-minute seaplane ride from Velana airport brings you to this pristine haven, home to 130 luxurious villas both on-water and the beach and offers a wide array of guest experiences and facilities.
