The ultra-luxurious resort, Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives has announced the appointment of Dee Bello, the new resident Marine Biologist and Sustainability Guardian at the island. In her new role, Dee would be leading the way in ensuring the island’s pristine ecosystem is preserved and would drive initiatives to protect and prosper the marine biosphere of the resort.
Dee has established an impressive career in the field of Marine Biology and the nature of her work has taken her to many parts of the world. In previous endeavors, Dee has worked at Cape Verde, Costa Rica, Spain and in Asia she was stationed in Malaysia and Maldives as well. Her first brush with the hospitality industry and the Maldives came when she joined Velaa Private Island.
As the modern world rapidly heads towards climate degeneration, the efforts of marine biologists are crucial to mitigate the disastrous outcomes. In this regard, Dee’s skillset will be extremely useful as she has a strong background in nature-based asset management, conservation, restoration and analysis.
Moreover, her work experience on high-level projects will greatly add value to the initiatives she will be curating during her time in Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives. Dee has been a notable contributor to the Sea Shepherd Society’s Milagro campaign which focused on saving the most engendered marine mammal in the world- the Vaquita Marine Porpoise (Phocoena sinus). She has also been actively involved in the turtle conservation program of the World Wildlife Fund.
With a passion for crafting activities that inspire participants to conserve the marine environment, Dee will be spearheading the resort’s Coral Restoration and Conservation Project. She would also collaborate with local communities and government bodies to drive the project.
