The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC / Visit Maldives) held a webinar titled 'High-End Adventures - The Maldives Awaits | USA 2022' for travel agents and tour operators from the United States of America (USA).
The webinar, which took place on May 17th, 2022, aimed to train US travel agents and tour operators as well as promote high-end adventures in the Maldives for travelers by showcasing the best of the destination. This is the first webinar held this year to help the Maldives brand in the North American market. Yacht Maldives, Movenpick Resort Kuredhivaru Maldives, and Crossroads Maldives joined the hour-long session.
The webinar began with an opening speech by Thoyyib Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of MMPRC/Visit Maldives, emphasizing the importance of the Maldives to the US travel trade. Thoyyib also highlighted the many awards and accolades received by the Maldives in recent years, as well as the joy of vacationing in the Maldives during the Maldivian tourism industry's golden jubilee year.
Furthermore, the industry partners presented the most recent information on each property's unique products and experiences. The webinar provided an important platform for Visit Maldives' industry partners to showcase their latest products to a large travel trade audience in the US region while also strengthening relationships with the US market.
Last year, the United States was one of the top source markets for the Maldives. As of April 6, 2022, the Maldives had welcomed 460,479 visitors, 21,009 of whom were from the United States. Last year, several market-related activities were carried out. This includes joint marketing campaigns, webinars, attendance at major trade shows, and hosting familiarization trips. This year, similar activities are planned.
