Indonesian Media Team Arrive in Maldives for FAM Trip, Promoting Adventure & Dive Experiences

Sunday 26th of June 2022

A media team from Indonesia has arrived in the Maldives for a familiarization trip to promote the diving and adventure activities offered at the island nation. The team will be in Maldives from June 23 to June 28 at the invitation of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives).

They will experience Maldivian hospitality, fine dining, and the distinctive experiences and services offered in these resorts while staying at Kuramathi Maldives, Pullman Maldives Maamutaa, and Mercure Maldives Koodoo. The team includes representatives from well-known Indonesian publications.

By showcasing dive facilities and pertinent experiences, this trip will aid in promoting the country’s budding diving industry. The tourism goods, such as resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and liveaboards, to the Indonesian market through this trip will also be marketed.

Additionally, promotion of the one-island-one resort concept, our destination's safety and seclusion, and the distinctive geographic features of our dispersed islands will also be implemented. It is anticipated that 30 million potential travelers from Indonesia will see the social media posts and articles the trip's participants write about their experiences in the Maldives.

As part of MMPRC’s marketing plan for the Indonesian market, the trip is being made to raise awareness of the Maldives as one of the safest travel destinations while also providing coverage and digital visibility in Indonesia.

Prior to the pandemic, the Maldives welcomed over 4,000 visitors from Indonesia in 2019, and over 950 visitors from this country arrived in 2021. There have been 365 arrivals from Indonesia between January and April 2022. In order to boost arrivals from SouthEast Asia, MMPRC intends to hold a number of marketing events this year for Indonesia and other nations in the region.

In 22 different countries last year, MMPRC conducted 260 different marketing activities, such as roadshows, familiarization tours, marketing campaigns, webinars, and interviews. The Maldives won the title of "World's Leading Destination" at the 2021 World Travel Awards, which are widely regarded as the standard of excellence in the travel industry, late last year, which is the greatest testament to the success of these initiatives. The Maldives have successfully attained this prestigious title for the second year in a row, which is a shining example of the confidence that tourists from all over the world have in the "magic of Maldivian hospitality."
