For the first time in history, the ITB Berlin conference has launched virtually on a four-day event. Held from March 9 to 12, this event connects stakeholders from all around the globe in a networking conference including B2B meetings for participants and establish new business connections. Visit Maldives has taken advantage of this opportunity and participated in ITB Berlin NOW 2021.
The platform provides Visit Maldives an opportunity to maintain and strengthen destination presence and promote the Maldives as a safe haven to travel during this challenging period. A total of 15 companies and 27 participants are participating alongside the destination in this event.
On March 10, a live press conference will be hosted by Visit Maldives with panelists including Tourism Minister, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom and Managing Director of Visit Maldives, Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed. In the conference, main focus will be given to highlighting the efforts to promote the destination as a safe haven for travelers and the geography of the destination.
In the last one week prior to the event, Visit Maldives has been aiding promotion of its participation in the conference banners on the ITB Berlin website and social media posts from the official ITB Berlin accounts. It is also listed amongst official sponsors and partners of the event. Moreover, an article was also shared on the official ITB Berlin e-news website portraying the safety of Maldives as an ideal post-covid destination.
The Maldives has been persistently carrying on with marketing efforts in high hopes of achieving 1.5 million tourist arrivals for this year. This will be further achievement from the remarkable resilience it has shown as a destination during a global pandemic, welcoming 555,494 in 2020. Amongst the many activities planned for the remainder of the year includes, social media campaigns, joint marketing campaigns with global stakeholders, familiarization trips and visibility campaigns. Several marketing activities and strategies have also been shifted to digital platforms in order to promote the destination whilst adapting to the evolving situation.
