Wednesday 24th of July 2024

JOALI Maldives, the first and only art-immersive resort in the Maldives, is set to host renowned pastry chef Eunji Lee from 3rd to 7th September 2024. Chef Eunji, known for her edible art, will offer guests an intimate pastry workshop and a specially curated dessert menu during her stay.

Born in South Korea, Chef Eunji Lee has an impressive culinary journey that began in France in 2006. After graduating from pastry school, she honed her skills at Ze Kitchen Galerie, and later trained under culinary legends Alain Ducasse and Cedric Grolet at Le Meurice. In 2016, she became the Executive Pastry Chef at the two Michelin-starred Korean restaurant Jungsik in New York City, and in 2022, she opened her own pastry boutique, Lysée, in the Flatiron District. Named after the French word for museum (Musée), Lysée reflects Chef Eunji’s vision of pastry as edible art. Her accolades include being named one of La Liste’s Pastry Talents of 2023, Food and Wine’s Best New Chefs of 2023, and a 2024 James Beard Award Semi-finalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef.

During her time at JOALI Maldives, Chef Eunji will conduct a pastry workshop on 7th September in the resort’s ‘Her Kitchen’. Guests will learn to make the iconic French éclair, complete with a local fruit compote and vanilla cream, and master the art of piping. ‘Her Kitchen’ offers a luxurious setting where guests can cook alongside world-class chefs and discover the joys of culinary creation.

Chef Eunji will also present a special dessert menu throughout her stay, featuring her signature Lysée cake, a mango tart, and a local fruit cake. These creations will be available to guests in the evenings, showcasing her unique blend of art and flavor.

JOALI Maldives, renowned for its exceptional culinary experiences, hosts a rotation of esteemed chefs and culinary experts year-round. The resort features five culinary outlets—Vandhoo, Saoke, Bellinis, TUH’U, and Mura Bar—each offering diverse and exquisite dining options. Guests can also enjoy destination dining in unique settings such as the Manta Ray Treehouse, Chef’s Garden, or a private sandbank, creating memorable meals with tailor-made menus.

While indulging in Chef Eunji’s culinary delights, guests at JOALI Maldives can enjoy the luxurious amenities of the 73-villa island.
