The JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa has made significant new appointments, promoting Laltlanpari Varte to Director of Spa at the award-winning Spa by JW and appointing Narawat Laksanayame as the new sous chef at the popular treetop Thai restaurant, Kaashi. These changes highlight the resort’s dedication to providing exceptional guest experiences through continuous improvement and innovation.
Promotion of Director of Spa
Laltlanpari (Pari) Varte has been promoted to the position of Director of Spa at Spa by JW. Pari joined the resort in 2020 as Spa Manager, bringing over 15 years of experience in spa and wellness management from prestigious luxury brands like Oberoi Group of Hotels, Taj Hotels, Hyatt Hotels, and Hilton Hotel. Her leadership has been instrumental in making Spa by JW a sanctuary of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Under Pari’s guidance, Spa by JW has received numerous accolades, including the Favorite Honeymoon Spa at the Global Spa Awards 2022 and Best Wellness Resort 2022 by Travel & Leisure India. These awards reflect Pari’s exceptional leadership and dedication to excellence. She is committed to enhancing spa treatments with sustainable practices, incorporating locally inspired products from the Maldives such as Island Apothecary.
“I’m thrilled to have the team’s trust in leading this endeavor,” Pari expressed. “I believe our treatments cater to the exact needs of guests, focusing on delivering four distinctive benefits — Calm, Indulge, Invigorate, and Renew.” The spa offers a range of holistic treatments and services designed to promote well-being and tranquility.
Spa by JW aims to revitalize the mind, body, and spirit through a balanced journey to achieve ‘The Whole You.’ With seven uniquely designed couple treatment rooms and one Deluxe Treatment Suite equipped with a steam room, ice room, and plunge pool, the spa provides an unrivaled experience of relaxation and rejuvenation.
New Sous Chef at Kaashi
JW Marriott Maldives is also delighted to welcome Narawat Laksanayame, affectionately known as “Mama,” as the new sous chef at Kaashi. With breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean and a stunning treetop setting, Kaashi, meaning “Coconut” in the local language, is set to elevate its dining experience with Chef Mama’s authentic Thai cuisine.
Inspired by her parents and her hometown of Ubon Ratchathani in the Isaan province, Chef Mama brings rich and spicy flavors to Kaashi. One of her signature dishes is somtam, a vibrant papaya salad made with fresh ingredients like strips of papaya, tomatoes, chili peppers, beans, dried shrimp, and peanuts.
Chef Mama has been a vital part of the team at Kaashi, consistently delighting guests with her signature dishes that showcase authenticity and delicacy. Her extensive experience from working in various kitchens across Malé, including Centara Ras Fushi, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, and Kandima Maldives, combined with her passion for culinary traditions, promises an unforgettable dining experience for guests at Kaashi.

These new appointments at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa underscore the resort’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in delivering exceptional guest experiences. The resort invites guests to indulge in world-class spa treatments at Spa by JW and savor the authentic flavors of Thailand at Kaashi, where every dish tells a story of tradition and passion.
