State Trade Organisation (STO) had chartered a Maldivian flight which carried personal protective equipment (PPE) kits and other essential medicals supplies. Maldivian said that they are working together with partners to ensure that the public is provided with the essential supplies and services during these difficult times.
On 28th April, Bank of Maldives announced that on special charter flights via Maldivian to 9 airports across the country, BML’s team joined by our CEO Tim Sawyer and CRO Gary Laughton, delivered cash required for atoll-based ATMs and branches, cards, PINs, POS terminals and PPE to 23 of our branches.
On 27th April, Maldivian tweeted that their cargo freighter, loaded with around 6237 Kgs of perishable & medical goods, landed in at VelanaAirport from Dubai. Further, on 26th April, a Cargo Freighter from Colombo arrived at Velana Airport carrying 9810 Kgs of cargo.
Maldivian, being the national airline of the country, is uniquely positioned to bridge the islands between North and South via their hub in Male, consequently giving them better flexibility to use capacity efficiently and transport cargo. Maldivian Cargo currently manages international, domestic and express cargo services.
