This year, Veligandu is taking part in Earth Hour that draws attention to nature loss and ongoing climate crisis. Over the years, the resort has been switching off all non-essential lights all around the island on the occasion, however, this year they are going all out.
Veligandu plans on turning off 90% of the lights on the island for Earth Hour, aiming to spread awareness and recreate unmissable light. Meanwhile, guests are invited to candle lit dinners on the vast and pristine beaches of the island, symbolizing everyone doing their part in reducing the carbon footprint.
Indulge in the luscious organic cuisines and wine selection complimenting the happy vibe and tropical ambiance. A live band will perform naturally smooth music with non-electric instruments, harmonizing and binding the experience all together.
Moreover, a whole lineup of eco and carbon footprint conscious activities will be carried out on the resort during the festivities. They include tempting sunset yoga on the sandbank to sustainable Dhoni snorkeling trips, star gazing cruise to a screening of Eco-movie related to the planet, beach cleaning and more.
Keeping safety as an utmost priority, the resort has initiated COVID19 vaccination drive on the island, administering the first doze of vaccine to over 75% of the team members since February 19, 2021.
