Yesterday, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) announced that they have introduced Asset Security Services within Velana International Airport (VIA). The services are featured under VIA’ Safety, Security and Compliance Department and will serve the purpose of safeguarding the infrastructure and assets throughout the airport. To facilitate such services, highly trained security staff will supervise, surveillance and patrol all assets within VIA.
The Asset Security Services were launched at a special ceremony held yesterday. During the ceremony, the designated uniform worn by the staff was also revealed. Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director of MACL, Mr. Ibrahim Thoha said that the development of airport infrastructure brings new challenges and to maintaining the security within the airport is crucial.
As part of the new service, MACL staff will surveillance the newly opened Seaplane Terminal, the Land side controlled area of both New Fuel Farm and New Cargo Terminal, Air Traffic Management Building, Power Generation Building, Water Supply Building, Administrative Complex as well as the Airport landside boundary fence and parking lots.
In addition to this, the team will monitor unnecessary entrance to the airport by controlling and operating the Fire Alarm Control Panels, Access Control Systems and CCTV systems inside VIA. Moreover, the staff will also patrol and oversee surveillance around terminal areas too.
