Malaysia Airlines has officially restarted its daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to the Maldives, marking a significant milestone in its network expansion. Flight MH485, operated by a Boeing 737-800, took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) at 10:10 AM with a full load of 174 passengers. The flight, lasting four hours and 15 minutes, landed at Velana International Airport (MLE) at 11:25 AM local time, where it was greeted with a traditional water salute. The return flight departs from MLE at 12:30 PM local time.
This new route represents Malaysia Airlines' 13th destination in South Asia, highlighting its commitment to enhancing its presence in key markets. The airline last operated direct flights to the Maldives in 2017. The resumption of this route underscores Malaysia Airlines' role as a gateway to Asia and beyond, aligning with its broader strategy for commercial growth.

In celebration of the route launch, Malaysia Airlines is offering special promotional fares. From now until August 31, 2024, round-trip Economy Class tickets to the Maldives start at USD 299, with travel available until March 30, 2025. Additionally, travelers can benefit from a 10% discount on ancillary bundles, including extra baggage and lounge access at KLIA.
