The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives), Fathmath Thaufeeq, highlighted the nation’s tourism achievements and development initiatives at the Maldives Media Meet held on May 6th during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024.
In her opening remarks, CEO & MD Fathmath Thaufeeq praised the dedication of the Maldives' travel and tourism industry and the government's commitment to sustainable practices. She emphasized that this focus ensures the islands' long-term prosperity for future generations. The recent accolades from the World Travel Awards, including Indian Ocean's Leading Destination, Leading Honeymoon Destination, Leading Green Destination, and Leading Dive Destination, further cement the Maldives' position as a premier travel hub.

She stated that reaching 2 million tourist arrivals in 2024 is a key target, along with increasing visitor nights and maintaining the Maldives' status as the World's Leading Destination. Thaufeeq highlighted the positive trend in tourist arrivals, noting a 15.3% increase by March 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. This momentum fuels optimism for achieving the ambitious tourism targets set for the year.
