Today, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) announced that they have concluded the successful brand awareness campaign held in collaboration with Turkish Airlines. The 3 month-long campaign began in February 2022 and aimed to place Maldives as the top destination in the Turkish market. The campaign mainly focused on consumers and strived to increase Maldives brand awareness and destination presence in the Turkish region.
As part of this campaign, 30–second long promotional videos were displayed before the beginning of each movie, featured in the in-house flight entertainment system of all flights of Turkish Airlines. The videos were produced in such a way that captures the breathtaking beauty of the islands while showcasing the tourism products of resorts, guesthouses, liveaboards and hotels. The sole rights video also focused on highlighting the exclusive experiences that are quintessential to a vacation in the Maldives.
The promo video was aired in 44,800 Turkish Airlines’ flights, generating an estimated 11.2 million views during the 3 months of the campaign. Apart from being the National flag carrier of Turkiye, Turkish airlines flies to more destinations around the world than any other airlines, drawing in passengers from West, Eastern & Central Europe as well as the Middle East. Due to this aspect, the airline was able to provide prominent coverage and visibility to the Maldives brand.
Conducting joint campaigns with world-class airlines are becoming an important marketing strategy for MMPRC to collaborate with industry stakeholders. In the past two years, the corporation has carried out different promotional campaigns with big names in the airline industry such as Qatar Airways, Ethihad Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines and AirAsia.
To expand its scope on the Turkish market, MMPRC had hosted familiarization trips to the Maldives from Turkiye journalists last year. Many events are lined up for the Turkish market this year as well. Through these marketing strategies, Maldives was able to welcome a remarkable number of 946,746 visitors from Turkey by August 1st 2022.
