Visit Maldives planned a series of webinars to be conducted in focus markets that are aimed to strengthen the Maldives brand presence and tap into the promising potential of these markets. Themed as ‘Connect with Maldives – Your Safe Haven’, the webinars are carried out in Visit Maldives’ newly launched dedicated virtual platform ‘My Virtual Maldives’.
The second webinar in the series has taken place on this state-of-the-art platform, and was conducted for 95 travel trade participants from the Thailand market on last Tuesday. Maldives was promoted to the participants as an ideal getaway amid the pandemic. The webinar was strategically timed with Thailand's border reopening for international leisure travel.
During the webinar, latest travel information, guidelines and the many authentic Maldivian experiences that can be taken up on a holiday in the destination were showcased in both English and Thai language. The unique geography of the Maldivian islands and offerings are appealing to different types of travelers, all who are promised the vacation of a lifetime in a safe haven. Industry partners also chimed in and explained their latest products to a wide-reaching travel trade audience in the Thailand market. Participants included Atolls World, Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives and The Residence Maldives.
Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed, Managing Director of Visit Maldives, addressed the Thailand travel trade during the exclusive webinar. He included the success story of Maldives’ tourism amid the pandemic in his remarks, and signified the importance of Thailand to Maldives as a source market that could grow by leaps.
He said, “It is my deepest hope that travelers from the Southeast Asian market will once again feel the Maldivian sand, sun, and sea. We wish to welcome you all to the beautifully scattered islands of Maldives, a safe haven.”
Alongside Mr. Thoyyib, His Excellency Mohamed Jinah, Ambassador of Maldives to Thailand, also participated in the webinar. He shed light on the foreign policies and the travel corridors implemented in reopening borders.
Despite travel restrictions in place, Visit Maldives is pushing forward with a number of marketing and advertising campaigns for key markets around the world.
