Maldives, beautiful as is, has been a safe haven for tourists arriving from all around the world even in the ongoing pandemic. With minimal tourist arrival restrictions paired with stringent measures across all touch points, the destination has been booming once again with the arrival of Summer.
The number of tourists arriving in July 2021 has increased significantly. The total number of tourist arrivals in the Maldives for the month is 101,818. In comparison to the 56,166 arrivals in the previous month, this is a significant increase of 81% in the numbers.
On an average, 3284 tourists are arriving per day to Maldives, while a new arrival record was noted on August 1, hitting 5424. Majority of the arrivals are still dominated by Russia and India, the new best source markets that emerged with the pandemic. Not surprisingly, countries such as Saudi Arabia, South Africa and UAE are also promising source markets listed in the top 10 tourist arriving markets that are competing with European markets now.
