Maldives Restricts Hotels & Guesthouse Check-ins

On 14th March, the government announced that travelers and tourists will be restricted from checking-in into hotels and guesthouses in Male’ City, including Hulhumale’ and Hulhule.

Nevertheless, state authorities have not restricted tourists who have previously checked-in into such hospitality venues adding the holidaymakers will be allowed to stay for the duration of their booking itinerary.

A total of 10 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the country, all reported from local resorts. The number of tourist arrivals to Maldives have started to decline due to the escalation of the virus and this action will further worsen the numbers.

At present, 5 positive cases were recorded from Kuredu Island Resort, 2 from Sandies Bathala Resort, 2 from Kuramathi Island Resort and more recently one case from Anantara Dhigu.
