Maldives Secures Prestigious World Travel Awards for Sustainability and Excellence

The Maldives recently celebrated its success at the 2024 World Travel Awards, securing two major titles: World’s Leading Destination for the fifth consecutive year and World’s Leading Green Destination for the first time. The special event was hosted by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) on 27th November 2024 at Velana International Airport, marking a significant moment for the nation’s tourism industry.

The event was attended by key figures, including the Minister of Tourism, Ibrahim Faisal, MMPRC CEO Ibrahim Shiuree, and Maldives Airports Company CEO Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed. Speaking at the event, Ibrahim Shiuree expressed his pride in the awards, emphasizing the hard work of the country's tourism industry stakeholders in achieving such milestones.

A highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of new “Maldives signage” at Velana International Airport, which serves as a symbol of the destination's accomplishments and global recognition.
