The German Travel Magazine, Connoisseur Circle has crowned Maldives as the winner of the “Best Luxury Destination of the year” for the second time in a row. The awards were announced on the 10th edition of the Hospitality Awards presented by Connoisseur Circle.

Connoisseur Circle Hospitality Awards is one of the most prestigious awards given worldwide in the international luxury hotel industry. The purpose of the awards is to recognize the best hotels in all the competing categories and motivate hotel operators to take their establishments to the next level of hospitality and luxury.

The magazine specializes in creating content about luxury hotels, resorts and destinations around the world in the German language. It is exclusively curated to elite travelers from Germany, Switzerland and Austria and aims to provide the latest information and updates in the opulent travel industry.

Maldives won “Best Luxury Destination of the year” under the Special Awards category and had won the same title in the previous year as well. Three of our resorts also won awards in different categories. Joali Being, the first holistic wellness resort in the Maldives, received the accolade as the “Best Hospitality Spa and Health Hotel” whilst “Best Hospitality Hideaway Indian Ocean” was taken by Velaa Private Island Resort. Maldives also left its mark with the dedicated readers of the magazine, with the Reader’s Choice award being presented to Ozen Bolifushi, the scenic and all-inclusive luxury resort in our archipelago.

This year Maldives has welcomed 67,608 tourists from Germany. MMPRC is undertaking many efforts to preserve destination presence and increase brand visibility in the German market. This includes a 6-month long campaign with Connoisseur Circle to attract high-class travelers from the German-speaking regions by showcasing Maldives as a safe and leading destination.
