The Maldivian passport has jumped six positions up the Henley Passport Index in 2022, ranking at the 58th position. This makes the Maldivian passport strongest in the South Asian region, beating its prominent neighbors such as India.

The Henley Passport Index is a 17-yearlong historical collection of unique data that is utilized in assessing where a passport ranks on the global mobility spectrum. a total of 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations are considered for this list and the progress Maldives has made proves its resilience in making a strong stand in a global stage.
