This month, Mirihi Island Resort is commemorating its 20th anniversary with celebratory festivities such as international chef collaborations, exclusive culinary holiday packages featuring contemporary American cuisine and all-new in-villa cocktail kits. Taking centre stage from May 25th-27th, 2023 Mirihi is gearing up to take guest experiences to the next level through Michelin-starred dining experiences and pop-up events.
The resort will be welcoming Chicago’s two Michelin-starred Executive Chef, Noah Sandoval of Oriole to the property alongside Julia Momosé of Kumiko, ranked #25 in World’s 50 Best Bars 2022. At Muraka restaurant, Chef Sandoval will entertain guests with a multi-course gastronomical experience, presenting his contemporary culinary style to guests using ingredients from the Maldives culinary space.
Speaking about this collaboration, Chef Sandoval enthused, “I’m thrilled to bring this unique six-course menu to Mirihi, showcasing dishes inspired by Oriole’s signature dishes plus originals that highlight the fresh, local ingredients that the Maldives have to offer.”
Likewise, renowned mixologist Julia Momosé will be taking over the bar program at Anba Bar during her residency, which features the largest collection of rum available in the Maldives. During her stay, she will also curate the in-villa 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Cocktail Kit which will pay homage to Maldivian ingredients to put together exotic creations such as the local Muraka Rum.
“Our team is excited to welcome Chef Noah Sandoval and mixologist Julia Momosé in collaboration with our culinary and cocktail teams, showcasing a two Michelin-starred dining experience for our guests at Muraka Restaurant and Anba Bar”, said Mohamed Shareef, General Manager. “Combining their expertise of contemporary cuisine and cocktail innovation with the freshest Maldivian ingredients will certainly be a once–in–a–lifetime culinary treat, and just the kind of programming we continue to share with our guests to celebrate 20 years of luxury hospitality.”
Oriole earned two Michelin stars in the restaurant’s first eligible year and has successfully maintained it each successive year. Chef Sandoval has been the centre of much buzz following the restaurant’s opening with recognitions such as Food & Wine Best New Chef, three semi-finalist James Beard nominations and Chef of the Year by the Chicago Tribune raising his culinary reputation. The restaurant itself has also garnered critical acclaim with notable 4-star reviews from the Chicago Tribune and Chicago magazine.
