The Coco Collection properties’ talented chefs did once again head for a culinary battle at this year’s Food & Hospitality Asia Maldives (FHAM) International Exhibition and Culinary Challenge 2023. The culinary teams at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu and Coco Bodu Hithi emerged victorious and brought home several accolades as testaments to their amazing skills and artistry.
The FHAM Exhibition is an annual event hosted in the Maldives that brings together numerous products and services offered in the hospitality industry. This year’s edition of the exhibition saw over 10,000 brands taking part, representing various companies. Likewise, the culinary challenge also welcomes a host of competitors across its 21 categories both from resort properties in the Maldives as well as abroad. The Culinary Challenge 2023 saw more than 500 competitors presenting their talents.
Over at the event, chefs from the hot kitchen of Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu put together a glamorous performance, with Chef Rahman bagging a Silver and Bronze Medal in the lamb and beef categories of the hot cooking challenge. On the other hand, Chef Maksudul won a Silver Medal in Seafood and a Bronze in beef while Chef Nirosh took home the Silver Medal by masterfully carving fruits and vegetables.
Meanwhile, chefs from Coco Bodu Hithi were reigning over the sweet side of things with Pastry Chef Didula and Chef Buddhika winning Gold and Silver medals respectively in the Dress the Cake category. Taking the winning streak further, Pastry Chef Danushka earned a Silver Medal in the Artistic Pastry Showpiece category while Pastry Chef Nihal scooped 3 Silver Medals in Creative Bread Display, Artistic Pastry Showpiece and Fruits and Vegetable Carving! To top it all off, Chef Nihal was also recognized as the 2nd runner-up in the Vegetable Carving category at FHAM 2023.
In addition to this, multiple other medals were presented to the hot kitchen chefs of the resort too. Chef Asiri manoeuvred the Lamb and Seafood – Hot Cooking Challenge successfully, resulting in both a Gold and Bronze in the category. Likewise, Chef Wuesundara brought home a Silver in the Appetizers (Hot/Cold) Challenge as well.
Throughout the event, the talented chefs at both properties worked hard to showcase their culinary skills and managed to obtain a collection of fancy medals and titles. Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu is celebrating the win with 4 Silvers and 1 Bronze while at Coco Bodu Hithi, 2 Golds, 6 Silvers and 1 Bronze are raising the triumphant spirit.
