Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has participated in Kazakhstan International Tourism Fair (KITF) 2023 to promote the Maldives destination in the emerging market. Held from the 19th-21st of this month at Almaty, Kazakhstan, a total of 24 co-exhibitors partook in the fair alongside MMPRC. Through this event, MMPRC aims to strengthen the Maldives’ brand presence in Kazakhstan and establish it as a potential destination for holidaymakers from the region.
Incepted in 2001, KITF is among the leading B2B fairs in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region and draws in the tourism industry of the whole Central Asia under one platform. This wide-reaching fair is also the star event of the tourism sector in Kazakhstan and as such brings a significant number of corporate travel decision-makers, investors, tour operators for VIP clients and other travel trade professionals to the limelight.
At the fair, Destination Maldives was displayed at an eye-catching stand spanning over 60 sqm. The stand was designed to provide visitors with a glimpse of the paradisial Maldives and featured various segments such as romance, seascapes and cultural experiences among others. During the event, the Maldives also received a Recognition Award for its participation alongside other leading destinations such as Italy, Almaty and Jordan. A special raffle draw also took place among visitors to the Maldives stand with 2 lucky winners having received a free holiday giveaway to the Maldives, sponsored by Bandos Maldives and Madifushi Private Limited respectively.
By participating in KITF 2023, MMPRC and industry partners were able to provide the latest information about the destination, services and offers to visitors. Moreover, it also helped them to spotlight the different products, experiences and segments of the Maldives tourism industry. Additionally, MMPRC was also able to meet with key stakeholders and collaborators in the market, further consolidating efforts to maintain destination presence in the CIS region.
As of January 2023, Maldives welcomed 2995 travellers from Kazakhstan. The CIS region boasts several promising markets for the Maldives, especially with Russia holding the position of the No.1 market so far into the year. Many activities are lined up for these popular markets throughout 2023, including participation in trade events such as LTM Moscow, DTM Kazakhstan and other high-profile marketing campaigns.
