Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is taking part in Arabian Travel Market (ATM) held from 1st May to 4th May 2023 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. A record-breaking Maldives delegation is attending the fair alongside MMPRC with over 200 partners representing 90 different travel and tourism establishments in the destination.
Participation in this event supports MMPRC’s effort to promote the Maldives in the Middle East. This is achieved through facilitating immense opportunities for the Maldives travel trade to interact and connect with the Arabian travel trade which ultimately will help to boost arrival figures from the region. This year’s attendance also marks the first time Maldives is returning to ATM after winning the ‘World’s Leading Destination’ for three consecutive years.
The Arabian Travel Market is a prominent global event for the inbound and outbound travel industry in the Middle East. Running for the past 3 decades now, this annual event has served as a valuable platform, connecting products and destinations worldwide with buyers and travel trade visitors. This serves the ATM’s core aim of supporting the travel industry and providing important business connections within it.
Speaking about the ATM 2023, the CEO and MD of MMPRC, Mr Thoyyib Mohamed remarked, “ATM 2023 is the most significant tourism fair in the Middle East, bringing together travel trade professionals, travel enthusiasts, media professionals and more under the same room for four days of networking. I have no doubt that our industry partners are having fantastic opportunities for networking and collaborations.”
The Maldives destination is showcased in a 429 sqm double-decker stand that draws inspiration from the Maldivian islands and other unique aspects of the archipelago. The stand is conceptualized to seamlessly blend modern designs with the native flora and fauna of the Maldives and features 90 co-exhibitor counters and 53 B2B meeting tables. To sum up, the stand is designed to attract as many visitors as possible while exhibiting the richness of Maldivian heritage, culture, and character.
Moreover, exciting experiences and events are conducted at the stand as well. This includes raffle draws, where 5 lucky visitors will have the chance to win a free holiday giveaway in the Maldives. The raffle draws are sponsored by some of the highly esteemed properties featured in the destination such as Seaside Finolhu Baa, Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives, Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, NOOE Maldives Kunaavashi and Adaaran Prestige Vadoo.
At the fair, Visit Maldives is marketing various tourism segments to visitors including luxury, honeymoon, romantic, family and adventure as well as MICE clientele. As for industry partners, they can utilize numerous promotional and networking opportunities, promote their products and experiences and connect with international tourism stakeholders for potential new collaborations. Participation in the ATM 2023 eventually serves the wider purpose of elevating and augmenting the Maldives brand in the Middle Eastern Market.
On the sidelines of ATM, MMPRC also held a special ‘Maldives Media Meet’ press event. A traditional market to the Maldives, the Maldives welcomed 21,127 visitors from the Middle East in 2022. Under the key strategy of maintaining brand visibility to ensure the Maldives remains a top-of-the-mind destination, continuous marketing activities are conducted throughout the year targeting the Middle Eastern market. This includes campaigns with renowned tourism stakeholders, media familiarization trips, marketing campaigns with major publications and magazines, outdoor advertising campaigns and joint marketing programs with reputed airlines and so much more!
