Stunning Modern Twists to Traditional Maldivian Dress

Maldives has participated in Thai Silk Fashion Week held from November 18-21, and the Grand Fashion Extravaganza, held on November 23. Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) states that this is a great initiative to promote Maldivian culture and fashion. Popular local fashion designers Moonisa Luthufee and Asiyath Shimla showcased their designs, inspired by the traditional Maldivian dresses.

Thirty-one ambassadors from 71 countries showcased their designs at the Grand Fashion Extravaganza. Thailand is an important tourism market for Maldives with over 25,334 arrivals by October end and accounting for 14% of the total tourist arrivals to the Maldives.
