MTCC- HA. Hoarafushi Airport Development Project

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) announces that airport construction phase of work for HA. Hoarafushi airport development project is now underway. The company informed that an asphalt plant and accessories have been transferred to HA. Hoarafushi. During this month, asphalt plant installation and testing works will be carried out.

Airport construction work involves construction of a 1200 m runway; 8,635 sqm of apron and taxiway; service roads at air & land side in front of terminal; 9,473 sqm of parking area; 1,718 sqm of fire access road and a 720 m of airport security and beach fence area.

On 30th August 2019, 842,200 cbm of dredging and reclamation needed for the project, which was awarded on 25th March 2019 and subsequently mobilized on 18th April 2019, was completed. A 1,120 m revetment, also needed for the project, was completed on 2nd March 2020. Overall, MTCC’s scope of the airport project will be completed before 18th September 2020, and the project is scheduled to achieve the targeted date.
