New Leadership Takes Flight: Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed Appointed Managing Director of MACL

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) is poised for a new era with the recent appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed as its Managing Director, a decision endorsed by the Privatization and Corporatization Board of Maldives on November 28, 2023.

Mr. Shareef brings an illustrious career in public service spanning over 36 years, with key roles including Commissioner General of Customs, Chairman of various Maldivian entities, and Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Ports Limited. His recent international stint as the Trade Representative of Maldives in Australia showcased his prowess in global business affairs.

A distinguished academic, Mr. Shareef holds a Masters Degree in Commerce from Deakin University, Australia, and completed his undergraduate studies in the United Kingdom.

In a message to the MACL staff, Mr. Shareef underscored the vital role the company plays in the nation's economic development. His key focus areas include prioritizing the completion of new facilities, with special attention to the ongoing airport expansion project.
