Starting off the year strong, Velaa Private Island, as a part of its yearly donation plan to help the community, has already donated a very generous amount of MVR 75,000 to three major NGOs who work in the country. The donation was started back in 2018, during Velaa's 5-year anniversary,
The three NGOs that were supported this time around were Care Society, Cancer Society, and Thalassemia society of Maldives, each receiving MVR 25,000. They were handed ceremonial cheques at a special function held especially for the event.
General Manager of Velaa Private Island, Wayne Milgate said, “Five years ago, when we started working with these organizations, the world was a very different place, and often in these difficult times it is the non-profit organizations that struggle the most and are the ones that need the most support. You may be rest assured, that our contribution and support will remain for these great NGOs and their initiatives, and we are very proud and privileged to be able to share our support for these wonderful causes.”
The resort has been donating back to the Maldivian community directly and via NGOs as well as to the government during the most needful times and in their effort to support the locals.
