Ooredoo Maldives has announced Hassan Saajin, known as Zuvaan Masveriya (young fisherman) throughout the country, as its new brand ambassador. The 21 year old has been advocating fishing among youth for the past 5 years.
Sajin, born in the island of G. A. Gemanafushi, started fishing at a very young age and has made a name for himself in the fishing industry. The fishing enthusiast had even registered a foundation under the name “Dhivehi Masverin” and continues to advocate against the challenges the fishermen in Maldives face in the hope to bring positive changes.
The telecom company said that the newly formed partnership will focus on creating awareness among the youth for the opportunities in the industry and the modern developments. Ooredoo will also be working with Saajin to identify current concerns and difficulties faced by the fishing community and provide possible digital solutions for them.
“For a long time, I have done many sacrifices and spent so much time promoting fishing in the country. I am extremely happy that Ooredoo Maldives offered this partnership and showed that they also support fishermen,” said Saaji. Ooredoo has established a vessel monitoring system in collaboration with the Fisheries Ministry to secure location devices on fishing vessels. Further, the company also provided mobile satellite communications for fishing vessels in collaboration with Thuraya Telecommunications.
