As part of the nationwide vaccination drive focusing on frontline tourism sector staff that was initiated on February 4, Ministry of Tourism has successfully facilitated the vaccination of over 12,739 tourism sector staff in the nation as of date.
While 12,048 staff are frontline resort workers, 306 staff work at guesthouses, 214 on tourist vessels and safaris, and 70 from hotels. In addition to this, 64 freelance artists, 24 travel agents and 67 staff who work on the frontline from the ministry have received the first doze of the vaccine.
With more and more staff being vaccinated, visitors to the dreamy destination can be assured of their safety in the Maldives. Stringent measures rolled out at every touch point in addition to the naturally social distanced islands with a one-island-one-resort concept makes sure that minimal exposure is given to any situation where a guest be at risk.
On its journey to recovery, Maldives has been able to achieve over 100,000 visitors in a span of a month. Arrival numbers surpassed the 200,000 mark on 4th March 2021, exactly one month since arrivals surpassed 100,000 on the 4th of February. As of 17th March 2021, the total number of arrivals to the Maldives reached 243,979 with a daily average of 3,210 tourists per day.
