As the new normal begins, we still have rules and regulations to abide by in order to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe from COVID19. The major scare the country has to face is the tourism sector as we are visited by hundreds of travelers from around the world every day.
In order to keep our little country safe, there are many steps taken health wise by the government and the public. Set by the Health Protection Agency Maldives, below are a couple of things to keep in mind for the travelers planning on staying at guest houses in Maldivian Islands including the Greater Male’ Guest Houses.
The travelers who plan on checking-in to the guest houses located in the islands must have completed the two dozes of vaccinations with the last doze being at least 14 days prior to arrival. However, it is a must to check if the island you plan on visiting has a vaccination completion rate of 60% amongst the locals and 95% vaccination completion rate amongst the people providing service for the tourists.
The vaccination would only be complete after 14 days from the last doze. If by chance the traveler has only one doze complete, then it is a must to re-submit a negative PCR test 7 days after arrival. However, this only applies for tourists checking-in to guest houses in islands other than Greater Male’ Area.
Only the tourists who have completed two dozes of vaccinations – last doze being 14 days prior will be accepted for check-in in the Greater Male’ Area.
