Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands has won the accolade for Best Resort at AHEAD Asia 2022 Awards. The luxury resort was awarded the title after recognizing the architectural splendor of the property, designed by Kerry Hill Architects. The overwater escape tucked away in the North Male’ Atoll of the tropical paradise was commended by judges for its stand-out design, displaying authentic concepts that made the scene within the past year.
The intellectual minds at Kerry Hill Architects sought to showcase the resort in a futuristic view, bringing into life the resort landscape of the Maldives in a new spotlight, with a forward-looking …. to experience the pristine destination. As part of this master plan, the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands features a 2km long island chain connected along a single thread of circulation, allowing guests to fully take in the destination from the alluring sea-scape to ‘breather spaces’ located deep within the forest.
The Fari island chain is home to three lush green islands and an additional ‘water’ island located on the eastern front of the Fari Islands Lagoon in the North Male’ Atoll. The geometric shape of the islands complement the resort’s spherical line of interconnected villas dotted across the lagoon, encompassing the cyclical flow of island life in its intricate design.
To preserve the aesthetically minimalistic image projected by the resort while still incorporating complex structures in its requirements, the resort has set the bar higher with its exceptional design expectations. This in turn paved way for exclusive guest experiences to be curated for visitors and still managing a low carbon footprint in the operations of the resort.
AHEAD constitutes of four regional annual award programmes in Asia, MEA, Europe and the Americas with regional winners advancing to the global finale due to be held in January 2023.
