Maldivian resorts are exclusive to their own island setup but every resort establishment makes great effort in involving the local community in their growth as well. As such, Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa takes pride in the generous assistance they are able to provide for the Home for People with Special Needs in the island of Guraidhoo, Kaafu Atoll.
In a special event held in the resort on December 21, 2021, Sheraton Maldives donated recreational items worth USD 6938.99 (MVR 106,997.52 in local currency) to HPSN. This donation is aimed towards setting up a recreational hall for patients and staff at HPSN.
Mr. Yoosaw Shihan, Chief Executive Officer of HPSN was presented the cheque in the presence of Ms. Aishath Naaz, Director of Ministry of Gender, Mr. Ali Ameez, Executive Director of Ministry of National Planning, Housing & Infrastructure and the management team and associates of Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa who graced the event.
HPSN is a rehabilitation home that provides special care and services to homeless, young, old, mentally and physically challenged residents. It was established in 1976.
Sheraton Maldives has continued to organize charity events such as runs and resort sale of second hands goods and furniture in order to raise funds for such donations.
