SHR Named Leading Company for Green Leadership in Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2020
S Hotels and Resorts Public Limited Company (SHR), a global hotels and resorts management company, that leads in terms of sustainability and quality standards, has been named as the region’s leading company, The Green Leadership category for Sustainable Hospitality with an Edutainment Approach at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2020. The ceremony was held through virtual means on 23rd September 2020.
SHR is a fast-growing company that is involved with the management of hotels and resorts and investments in various international locations, dedicating its focus on sustainable initiatives.
Since it inaugurated in 2014, the company which takes pride on promoting itself as a sustainable, development philosophy, has carried out various award-winning Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects and initiatives at oceanside properties in Thailand and the Maldives, including the development of its flagship Marine Discovery Centers.
Dirk De Cuyper, CEO of SHR, said that SHR’s commitment to sustainability is embedded into the core principles of the company and that the company acknowledges that they are the guardians of their destinations and have a duty to protect and preserve the destination for future generations.
He highlighted that all the resorts are in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, especially with regard to SDG14 “Life Below Water” and he added that SHR Hotels is delighted to have its efforts in recent years recognized by such a highly-respected awards body.
SHR has four resorts in the Maldives, SAii Lagoon Maldives, CROSSROADS Maldives, Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, and Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort. The Marine Discovery Center at CROSSROADS Maldives, is dedicated to preserving the biodiversity of the country’s prestigious marine ecosystem.
The center ensures that sustainability values are employed at every level, from recreational activities to environmental conservation and resort operations. Through educational yet entertaining methods, the Marine Discovery Center aspires to become a role-model of sustainability for future projects around the globe.
