Singapore Airlines (SIA), the flagship carrier of Singapore recently announced that they are stepping up the services by a notch to cater for soaring travel demands from the East Asia regions. The airline announced on 3rd October that they will be reinstating flights to many prominent destinations in its global network as travel restrictions ease across East Asia.
The rising demand is partly due to the fast approaching year-end holiday season with many individuals flying out of country to enjoy the festive season. The new services and additional frequencies are being brought to destinations including Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China
Speaking on the news, Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, Singapore Airlines, Ms. JoAnn Tan said “Buoyed by the further easing of entry requirements in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan we are seeing strong demand for air travel towards the year-end holiday season. Many customers are especially keen on destinations that have remained largely closed over the last few years. The SIA Group aims to offer even more value and options for our customers as they make their holiday plans, and we will nimble in adjusting our services in response to the demand for air travel”.
From 30th October onwards, SIA will increase operations to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport bringing the daily operations to four into the buzzing Japanese capital. On the same date, SIA will also reinstate flights to Osaka making twice daily operations to Osaka while stepping up the route to Fukuoka with three flights per week. For South Korea, a new daily service will commence on 30th October to Seoul stepping up operations to the capital to thrice daily.
On 31st October, SIA will recommence the four-time weekly service to Taipei, Taiwan. This in on top of the current three times-weekly SQ878 service to the capital. As for Hong Kong, SIA strives to increase operations to thrice daily flights and is under regulatory approvals at the moment. Starting from tomorrow, SIA will resume a weekly service to Chengdu with the aim of increasing frequency to greater points in China in the coming weeks.
With these new alterations, the SIA Group will be broadening its global network to include 110 destinations in 36 countries in the world as of 1st November 2022.
