Sun Island Resort Prepares To Host Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour

Sun Island Resort & Spa is all prepped to host this year’s edition of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, set to commence on 13th October 2022. Top athletes in the volleyball scene from different parts of the world will all congregate in the luxury resort. to kick-start the first major world-level beach volleyball competition in the Indian Ocean and the Island Nation as well.
The 2022 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour is the first edition of the global elite professional beach volleyball circuit organized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) for the 2022 beach volleyball season. A total of 86 pairs hailing from 28 different countries will grace the shores at Sun Island to compete in the tournament. In each gender category, 16 teams made the cut into the 24-team draw line-up with the remaining 8 slots determined through a qualifier tournament.
Renowned names making their way to the Maldives include the Qatari pair, Cherif Younousee and Ahmed Tijan who were ranked the top-seeded men’s team and Elize Maia and Thamela Coradello from Brazil, leading the women’s entry list.
The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour is deemed as a prestigious tournament in the beach volleyball scenery, falling short just behind the World Championships and the Olympic Beach Volleyball tournaments. The pristine beaches of South Ari Atoll is all geared up to make this year’s World Pro Tour a memorable one in the Maldives.
