Six Senses Laamu Launches First Phase of Generating Solar Energy!

Saturday 7th of August 2021

Maldives is one step closer in working together to reduce the carbon imprint the country has on mother earth. With the tourism industry blooming despite COVID19 in effect, the crew and managements at Maldivian resorts continue to show their dedication and hard work they are doing to help the ecosystem from being damaged.

One of the remarkable resorts that have crossed a milestone in working on the mission to reduce their carbon imprint is MUI by Six Senses Laamu. The resort has been working tirelessly towards this goal and today they have proven their dedication by launching the first phase of generating onsite solar energy at Six Senses Laamu.

The total capacity of the solar energy is 350 kWh generated from 1,174 marine-grade photovoltaic panels, installed on 18 rooftops across the resort. In the month of June, these panels generated 24,100 kWh of solar energy which is roughly enough to fuel 7 flights from London to Maldives! This alone, proves the high impact in the right direction of reducing carbon damage to our environment.

So, what did you do to reduce the carbon imprint?
