Special Delivery System in Addu - Ugail Foundation

Due to the state of public health emergency, Addu City is also in a state of lockdown. In this situation, in order to make sure the people have easy access to essential goods such staple foods, Ugail Foundation along with Addu City Council has established a special delivery system.

Businesses and traders with delivery permits can integrate and use the new system. The city’s council confirms registration and use of the system will be managed and administrated by Ugail Foundation. The council has decided to organize special information session for Addu City traders to divulge knowledge on the system’s usage and application.

Many locals had brought up questions regarding such a delivery system in Male’ and in other islands. Professor Hassan Ugail, the first Maldivian to obtain a PhD in Mathematics who is now working as a Professor of Visual Computing at the School of Engineering and Informatics at the University of Bradford, stated that he had proposed the delivery system in Male’ to relevant authorities as well.

Established in 2019, Ugail Foundation is dedicated in empowering people and creating better futures - especially for the peoples of the Maldives. The fundamental aim of establishing this foundation is to bring together much of the community and philanthropic work which Professor Ugail has been personally undertaking for the last two decades. Ugail Foundation, at present, carries out essential social work in four key areas, namely, education and training, life skills development, community awareness through science and technology and human capital development.
