SriLankan Airlines brings home a Silver Award in the "Corporate IT Awards" category at the Federation of Information Technology Industry in Sri Lanka (FITIS) Digital Excellence Awards, which was conducted recently.
The "Corporate IT Awards" recognize and honor firms that use cutting-edge information technology to produce remarkable operational excellence, measurable commercial advantage, tangible customer experience, or outstanding impact.
The evaluation criteria are mostly centered on how a product or system achieves Digital Transformation. Furthermore, the "Corporate IT Awards" are designed to recognize and honor IT firms that go above and beyond to ensure the long-term viability of their new technology and operational capabilities by addressing their organization's and people's important business needs.
SriLankan Airlines submitted the entry 'Digitalized Flight Operations through AeroOps (Tech Crew VR) and CabinOps (CCVR - Cabin Crew VR),' which focused on the operational transformation achieved onboard with the automation of Voyage Report processes for both Tech and Cabin Crew members. This increased operational productivity and efficiency while streamlining back-office support services for a better user and passenger experience.
The key benefits include digitizing the flight crew's Voyage Report (VR) capturing process, capturing and analyzing safety details, workflow setups, and giving full management information for decision-making in terms of safety, regulatory, and operational issues.
This system has been aligned with compliance standards by gathering, sharing, and storing regulatory information electronically in a secure and reliable format. It was decided to build a solution with in-house software engineering capabilities who are experts in the airline sector, systems integration, and mobile app development. The airline has saved $2 million in cash outflow as a result of this strategy.
