In every public school in Maldives, talent programs will be implemented this year to develop talents.
Giving more importance to education and grades over talent is a huge controversial issue in the world. Some people say more weightage should be given to education while others support various talents.
“Talent is often overlooked by outdated grading rubrics, innovation pushed aside by memorization exercises, and students are often not given the time to find out what they truly love to do,” said assistant professor Dr Franziska Apprich, of the Canadian University Dubai.
This is a significant issue in Maldives where extreme pressure is put on students to achieve higher grades. More must be done to bring out the best in young people and help develop talent, enabling pupils to find their strengths and interests.
