The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the “Chevening/Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) Scholarships'' partnership between the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) and the British High Commission took place today at Maagiri Hotel. The British High Commissioner to the Maldives, HE Caron Röhsler signed on behalf of the British High Commission, and the Secretary-General, Mr. Ahmed Nazeer signed on behalf of MATI.
The Chevening Scholarships program is the UK Government’s global scholarship program, by which scholarships are awarded to those individuals with strong academic backgrounds who can also demonstrate their leadership potential.
The “Chevening/Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) Scholarships” are for Maldivian students wishing to study for a one- year Master’s degree in a Travel and Tourism related program at any accredited university in the UK. The partnership is set to cover two scholarships over the course of two academic years - 2022/23 and 2023/24.
MATI intends to increase and enhance this program depending on the success of this inaugural initiative.
